Community Advisory Board Coordinator is a full time position (Contractually Limited)

We are a registered charitable organization with a volunteer Board of Directors.Contract Description:This position is responsible for developing and facilitating a Community Advisory Board (CAB) for Quadrangle NL, as well as shaping and overseeing CAB activities, in collaboration with the Results Based Management Coordinator and Executive Director. This work will support Quadrangle building stronger capacity of 2SLGBTQI+ community organizations and networks to advance 2SLGBTQI+ equality. It will identify and address various barriers to accessing supports and services for the community as well as identify gaps in these services across the province through extensive work with our partners. The project will include the development of a Community Advisory Board that has representation from across the province and work to integrate a results-based management plan for all of Quadrangle’s programs and services to ensure intended outcomes are achieved. Some paid travel within Newfoundland and Labrador is required.Duties and Responsibilities:
Reporting to the Executive Director, the successful applicant will:
Conduct environmental scans of 2SLGBTQIA+-serving agencies and departments in NL as well as advocates and individuals from the community to determine a potential membership list that ensures effective coverage of our multi-faceted population.
Conduct outreach to and recruitment of Advisory Board members.
Create appropriate application and intake processes
Facilitate CAB meetings to support creation of the Terms of Reference and other required policies for the Community Advisory Board.
Conduct and facilitate CAB meetings to determine priorities, gaps in the system, knowledge sharing, and data collection opportunities.
Act as liaison between CAB and Results Based Management (RBM) Coordinator and work collaboratively with RBM Coordinator in developing RBM framework.
Facilitate discussion of effective cross-provincial, cross-organization data collection for effective advocacy and program development that supports sharing of data and mobilization of findings.
Other related duties as required.
Qualifications:The ideal candidate will have:

● Ability to work with and apply a social justice, anti-racist, anti-colonialist framework and lens to the tasks of the role
● Meeting facilitation experience
● Strong organizational skills
● Strong strategic, analytic, synthetic, and evaluative thinking skills.
● Strong written and oral communication skills
● Evidence of ability to take initiative
● Evidence of ability to work independently and collaboratively
● Familiarity with role of advisory boards in a charitable organization context
● Budget management experience
● Experience with Excel, Microsoft Word, Zoom and social media platformsCompensation:
Salary is $60,000 annually

This position is a part-time (20hours/week) position, contracted until March 31st, 2026.
Overview and description:
The Ontario Tobacco Research Unit (OTRU) at the University of Toronto, Egale and the Canadian Cancer Society (CCS) are leading a social marketing campaign and research project to better understand commercial tobacco use among queer and trans young adults in eight cities across Canada: Vancouver, Edmonton, Winnipeg, Thunder Bay, Toronto, Montreal, St. John’s, and Charlottetown. The project team is working with extensive input from and collaboration with an advisory committee, young adults, lead community partners from each city. This project is funded by the Public Health Agency of Canada.
Responsibilities:
Under the direction of the Executive Director and working closely with staff at Quadrangle NL and Egale, the EXPAND Program Facilitator will be responsible for leading the outreach and peer support activities in St. John’s. This will include:
Contributing to outreach strategies at different stages of the project
Helping to organize in-person and virtual events in your city
Recruiting members of young adult advisory and community partners in your city as needed
Working with Egale to plan and host meetings with the young adult advisory members in your city.
Connecting with other participating cities’ outreach coordinators to share experiences with the project and coordinate event calendars
Other outreach-related tasks as they arise
Organize and implement smoking cessation services in conjunction with new or existing mental health supports at your organization. This might include peer support, activity-based programing or counselling depending on the needs of your community and available resources.
Resources on smoking cessation for youth and young adults will be provided by the University of Toronto, Egale and the Centre for Addiction and Mental Health (CAMH)
General support with the day-to-day outreach operations of the Quadrangle NL Community Centre, including drop-in (including evenings/weekends), peer support, event support, and other duties as required
This role will be part of Quadrangle NL’s Outreach and Program team, and is based in St. John’s, NL. This position is a primarily in-office role.

Experience within and for the Two Spirit, trans, non-binary, intersex, and gender diverse community as well as the 2SLGBTQIA+ communities of NL
Experience with peer-support, community outreach, and engaging with community members from all walks of life
Ability to work with and apply a social justice, anti-racist, anti-colonialist framework and lens to the tasks of the role
Strong organizational skills
Strong strategic thinking abilities
Strong written and oral communication skills
Evidence of ability to take initiative
Research and data collection experience
Evidence of ability to work independently and collaboratively

This is a part-time position for 20 hours per week. Compensation for this position is $28.50/hr (Equivalent to $30,000/yr).
