CHECK-UP ON 2SLGBTQIA+ HEALTHCARE IN NEWFOUNDLAND AND LABRADOR
Barriers and Facilitators to Healthcare Access (Healthcare Providers and Students Report)
In 2023, Quadrangle NL conducted a province-wide study on 2SLGBTQIA+ healthcare access in Newfoundland and Labrador. This report presents findings from two groups: healthcare providers and healthcare students practicing and training across NL. Data were collected through online surveys completed by 57 healthcare providers and 12 healthcare students. Companion reports from 2SLGBTQIA+ community members are published separately.
Note: The healthcare providers and students sample is relatively small, and the findings in this report should be understood as preliminary and exploratory. The percentages reported are therefore not representative and should not be generalized to all healthcare providers and students across the province. However, we believe these findings reveal important patterns and experiences that warrant further attention.

In 2023, Quadrangle NL conducted a province-wide study on 2SLGBTQIA+ healthcare access in Newfoundland and Labrador. This condensed summary presents findings from the community member component, drawn from 286 survey responses, 8 individual interviews, and 10 focus groups with 2SLGBTQIA+ community members across NL. Companion reports from healthcare providers and healthcare students are published separately.

2021 NEWFOUNDLAND AND LABRADOR 2SLGBTQIA+ COMMUNITY NEEDS SURVEY REPORT
Six years after Quadrangle NL's first community needs survey in 2015, this second province-wide survey was designed to update our understanding of the community's needs in light of substantial changes in the legislative, policy, and social environment — most notably the COVID-19 pandemic beginning in 2020 — and Quadrangle's own growth as an organization providing services and programs to the community. Building on the 2015 survey's foundation, the 2021 instrument expanded substantially, with particular emphasis on understanding how the pandemic had changed community needs.
Data collection ran from July 29 to September 8, 2021. A total of 256 responses were received. After data cleaning for completeness and validity, 253 valid cases were retained, representing a response validity rate of approximately 99.2%.
2015 NEWFOUNDLAND AND LABRADOR 2SLGBTQIA+ COMMUNITY NEEDS SURVEY REPORT
As Quadrangle NL’s first community needs survey, the primary goal was to understand the community’s profile, assess how necessary a dedicated community centre was, identify which services the community most wanted, and give community members a voice in shaping the organization’s direction. To that end, ten questions were included in the survey instrument. The survey was distributed primarily through social media, and data were collected between May 27 and June 10, 2015. A total of 751 responses were received; after cleaning the data for completeness and validity, 691 cases were retained, representing a response validity rate of approximately 92%.
SENIOR CARE AND HOUSING NL REPORT 2021
In May 2021 Quadrangle NL and Gray Gays NL partnered to perform research on the experiences of LGBTQI2S+ older adults in Newfoundland and Labrador. A survey along with one-on-one interviews with participants were conducted with members of the LGBTQI2S+ community members on senior care and housing in Newfoundland and Labrador.
This report was created from that data collected from community members that were 50+ living or plan to retire in Newfoundland and Labrador at the time of the research project. Thanks to funding provided to Gray Gays NL.
