Quadrangle's mission is to create a physical space welcoming to all members of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community in Newfoundland and Labrador, which will house and offer services and programs designed to create social connections, provide resources, and advance all aspects of our community's health and quality of life through inclusion and diversity, community development, collaboration, and recognition. Our three Mandated pillars are:

  1. To address and prevent specific problems faced by the 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals by establishing and operating a community centre with structured programs including social support groups, information programs on sexuality, peer counselling and mentoring as well as referral services based on their identified needs and goals.

  2. To advance education and raise awareness about specific problems faced by the community by providing education seminars for the general public.

  3. To address 2SLGBTQIA+ individuals unemployment by providing job skills training and employment assistance based on their identified needs.


An Important Announcement:

Quadrangle NL Community Centre is seeking a full-time Executive Director to join our growing team! We are seeking an organized, energetic, experienced leader to take up the helm from our outstanding first Executive Director.

In February 2021, we hired our first ED in a contractual/part time position. That Executive Director has led us through tremendous progress, and we have now grown to the extent that we require a full-time Executive Director to oversee, manage, and guide our work. We are deeply grateful to outgoing Executive Director and co-founder Charlie Murphy, for the work he has done in supporting, growing, and advancing the work and connections of Quadrangle. This organization will be always shaped by his vision, persistence, and tremendous work.

Full-Time Executive Director

Job Description:

This position provides strategic leadership and oversees all staff and programming of Quadrangle NL. Reporting to the Board of Directors (BOD), the Executive Director (ED) is responsible for overseeing and managing all daily and strategic aspects of the organization and ensuring its financial health.

The position is based in Newfoundland and Labrador and requires both in-person and remote work. Travel may be required within and outside of the province.

The successful applicant will oversee operations and perform duties related to four key areas:

1. Strategic leadership aligned with the organization’s mission and vision

2. Managing day-to-day operations, including staff supervision and program oversight

3. Overseeing strategy/strategies for fund development

4. External relations, relationship building, and advocacy

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:

-Assistance with the hiring of all consultants and employees

-Supervision of all employees, volunteers, and programs to ensure effective operation

-Work collaboratively with bookkeeper, treasurer, and accountant on budgeting, financial management and year end reports and filing

-Providing monthly written reports to the Board of Directors (both financial and programming)

-Advising the Board of Directors on operational needs and identifying priorities, risks, and opportunities for the organization

-Maintaining and developing collaborative partnerships across the province and with appropriate government departments and ministers

-Pursuit and development of fundraising and grant opportunities to maintain core operations and programming initiatives

-Representing the organization at public events and roundtables

-Ensuring completion of required reporting on grants

-Strategic leadership on capital fundraising for organizational growth and stability

-Responding to community inquiries and requests

-Media relations

-Ensure consistent and appropriate social media presence

-Attend monthly board meetings

-Other related duties as required

Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have:

-a proven track record in charitable and not-for-profit leadership and community building work

-diplomacy and ability to navigate and manage difficult situations and/or communication

-supervisory/management experience

-experience working with 2SLGBTQIA+ communities

-ability to work with and apply a social justice, anti-racist, anti-colonialist framework and lens to the tasks of the role

-keen strategic abilities

-strong organizational skills and time management

-strong written and oral communication skills

-evidence of ability to take initiative

-evidence of ability to work independently and collaboratively

-a knowledge of basic finance and accounting

-experience with Quickbooks, Excel, Photoshop, Microsoft Word, Zoom and social media platforms

Additional assets include:

-design and copy editing skills

-higher education and/or experience related to human resources, social justice work and advocacy, community outreach, social service provision, and community-based research

-experience with capital campaign strategies and management

Salary range is $65,000-$70,000 (plus benefits) annually commensurate with experience and qualifications.

We’re hiring a Full-Time Fund Development and Communications Officer!

The Fund Development and Communications Officer is a full-time 12-month (one year) contract  with the possibility of extension contingent on funding and positive performance. (Contractually Limited) until March 31, 2025.

Contract Description:

Quadrangle NL is hiring one Full-Time Fund Development and Communications Officer to join our team in a 12-month contractual position until March 31, 2025, with the potential for extension. The Fund Development Officer will support Quadrangle NL’s ongoing fund development efforts and play a key role in planning and executing fundraising events, applying for grants, building relationships with corporate sponsors, creating engaging and compelling campaigns across multiple platforms, and analyzing and researching market trends to determine Quadrangle NL’s fundraising strategy. 

Duties and Responsibilities:

The role of the Fund Development and Communications Officer requires the ability to quickly learn new topics, engage with subject matter experts, and develop a broad understanding of key issues affecting members of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community in NL.

  • Plan, manage, and execute fundraising campaigns and events

  • Seek out and write appropriate grant applications

  • Build relationships with corporate donors

  • Research and determine viability for new fundraising initiatives

  • Build new community partnerships to grow the fundraising event portfolio

  • Review and expand fund development plan

  • Secure event sponsorship and annual sponsors

  • Manage event volunteers

  • Support content for Quadrangle NL communications platforms

  • Provide written reports, updates, and recommendations to the Board of Directors

  • Other duties as required

Qualifications and experience:

  • Post-secondary degree in business, communications, marketing, or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience

  • A minimum of 1-3 years of experience in event planning, fundraising, communications, marketing, or in a business development environment

  • Familiarity with 2SLGBTQAI+ community and issues

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

  • Experience working with database systems and donor platforms

  • Detailed oriented and problem-solving skills

  • Experience working with strategic partners and sponsors

  • Experience doing project cost estimations and budgets

  • Experience in fundraising and grant writing

  • Experience in securing sponsorships

  • Experience in campaign development

  • Ability to work evenings and weekends as needed

  • Skilled in using data in storytelling

  • Certificate of conduct and vulnerable sector check is required 

  • Experience working in a team environment

We’re hiring a Full-Time Outreach Worker!

Contract Description:

Quadrangle NL is hiring one Full-Time Outreach Worker to join our team in a 12-month (one year) contractual position until March 31, 2025, with the potential for extension. The Outreach Worker will support Quadrangle NL’s ongoing outreach work and community engagement efforts.  This position will play a key role in planning and executing our outreach efforts across the province through creating and providing presentations, planning events, expanding our partnerships, and supporting the visibility and presence of Quadrangle NL. All work will require an intersectional lens,gender-based analysis and an awareness of gender based violence (GBV).

Duties and Responsibilities:

The role of the Outreach Worker requires the ability to stay up to date on current topics, engage with community and partnering organizations from across the province, and have a broad understanding of key issues affecting members of the 2SLGBTQIA+ community in NL.

  • Plan, manage, and execute outreach events

  • Build and reaffirm relationships with organizations from across the province

  • Recruit and manage volunteers

  • Host community meetings with service providers

  • Updating and management of community partners list

  • Maintaining a referral tracking system

  • Take part in community partner events

  • Referring clients to agencies that can provide additional services they may require

  • Supporting Centre drop-in hours

  • Development and delivery of presentations

  • Increasing the visibility of Quadrangle NL and the 2SLGBTQIA+ community

  • Maintenance and growth of  newsletter

  • Survey creation

  • Creation of reports, as requested, to the Board of Directors

  • Other duties as required

Qualifications and experience:

  • Post-secondary degree in social work, psychology, sociology, and or equivalent combination of education and relevant experience.

  • A minimum of 1-3 years of experience in community development or outreach, 

  • Experience in event planning

  • Experience in creating and providing presentations

  • Knowledge of 2SLGBTQIA+ topics, organizations and programs

  • Experience with community building 

  • Exceptional written and verbal communication skills

We’re hiring a Full-Time Community Advisory Board Coordinator!

Community Advisory Board Coordinator is a full time position (Contractually Limited) until March 31st, 2025 with the possibility of extension contingent on positive performance until March 31st, 2026 (this is a two year project)

 

Contract Description:

This position is responsible for developing and facilitating a Community Advisory Board (CAB) for Quadrangle NL, as well as shaping and overseeing CAB activities, in collaboration with the Results Based Management Coordinator and Executive Director. This work will support Quadrangle building stronger capacity of 2SLGBTQI+ community organizations and networks to advance 2SLGBTQI+ equality. It will identify and address various barriers to accessing supports and services for the community as well as identify gaps in these services across the province through extensive work with our partners. The project will include the development of a Community Advisory Board that has representation from across the province and work to integrate a results-based management plan for all of Quadrangle’s programs and services to ensure intended outcomes are achieved. Some paid travel within Newfoundland and Labrador is required. 

  

Duties and Responsibilities:

Reporting to the Executive Director, the successful applicant will:

  1. Conduct environmental scans of 2SLGBTQIA+-serving agencies and departments in NL as well as advocates and individuals from the community to determine a potential membership list that ensures effective coverage of our multi-faceted population. 

  2. Conduct outreach to and recruitment of Advisory Board members.

  3. Create appropriate application and intake processes

  4. Facilitate CAB meetings to support creation of the Terms of Reference and other required policies for the Community Advisory Board.

  5. Conduct and facilitate CAB meetings to determine priorities, gaps in the system, knowledge sharing, and data collection opportunities.

  6. Act as liaison between CAB and Results Based Management (RBM) Coordinator and work collaboratively with RBM Coordinator in developing RBM framework.

  7. Facilitate discussion of effective cross-provincial, cross-organization data collection for effective advocacy and program development that supports sharing of data and mobilization of findings. 

  8. Other related duties as required.


Qualifications:

The ideal candidate will have:

● Experience with conducting environmental scans

●  Experience with the provincial 2SLGBQTIA+ organizational environment

 ●  Ability to work with and apply a social justice, anti-racist, anti-colonialist framework and lens to the tasks of the role

Contract Description:
This position is responsible for developing and implementing a Results Based Management framework (RBM) for Quadrangle NL, as well as shaping and overseeing RBM activities, in collaboration with the Community Advisory Board Coordinator and Executive Director. This work will support Quadrangle building stronger capacity of 2SLGBTQI+ community organizations and networks to advance 2SLGBTQI+ equality.  It will support creation of evidence-based practices, processes, programs, and policies to address various barriers to accessing supports and services for the community in order to better address gaps in these services across the province through extensive work with our partners. 


Duties and Responsibilities: 

Reporting to the Executive Director, the successful applicant will:

  • Review current evaluation procedures, review evaluation policies and plans, contrast with policies of other provincial organizations in consultation with CAB Coordinator

  • Draft an RBM policy and procedure that can be applied universally across all of Quadrangle’s operations. 

  • Train all Quadrangle staff in how to use the RBM in their respective areas.

  • Liaise and work collaboratively with Community Advisory Board Coordinator in developing RBM framework that is informed by CAB consultations and discussions.

  • Contribute to discussion of effective cross-provincial, cross-organization data collection for effective Results Based Management strategies in advocacy and program development that supports sharing of data and mobilization of findings. 

  • Assist with writing of final project reports in alignment with Results Based Management protocols

  • Other related duties as required
